Cases we take

For families after a wrongful death

When a crash or neglect takes someone, the family is left with the funeral, the lost income and the questions nobody will answer.

We go slowly with families. The first meeting is mostly listening, at your kitchen table if that's easier than our office. We explain who can bring the claim, what it can cover and what the deadline is.

Then we take the paperwork off your hands: the death certificate, the estate, the insurance companies and the records. Haldor leads these cases himself and keeps the family's contact to one person.

What a claim can cover

  • Lost income

The wages and support your family member would have brought home.

  • Funeral and medical costs

The bills from the last days, and the burial.

  • Loss of companionship

What a spouse, a child or a parent lost that money can't replace.

  • The estate's own claim

For the pain and the losses before death, where the law allows it.

Questions about wrongful death

Who can bring a wrongful death claim?

It depends on the state. Usually the personal representative of the estate brings it for the family. We'll tell you who that is in your case.

Is there a deadline?

Yes, and it can be as short as two years from the death, sometimes shorter against a public body. Call before you think you're ready.

Do we have to go to court?

Most claims settle. If one doesn't, we'll explain the trial before you decide anything.
